We are excited to have new members joining our Dewees family! Please help extend a warm welcome to the Capers and Dial Families.
Sharon Moses Capers was born in Florence, South Carolina, and moved to Columbia, South Carolina in middle school. She spent summers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her 11 sisters and brothers. She graduated from Howard University in 1987 where she majored in Political Science and minored in Business Administration. She graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1990 and was admitted to the Pennsylvania and South Carolina Bar. She was a Public Defender and an Assistant Solicitor for Berkeley County. She has been in private practice since 2002 and has served as an Adjunct Professor at Limestone College.
Sharon married Christopher Capers and moved to Charleston in 1997. They are the proud parents of three children, Christina Capers (23), Aaron Capers (22), and Moses Capers (18). They all love traveling, boating, fishing, and crabbing. They are delighted to be a part of this wonderful community.
Heather Risley Dial was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri by Charles William Risley Jr. (Chuck) and Dianne Taus Risley. Heather graduated from Southern Methodist University with degrees in Marketing and Bio-Medical Anthropology in 1992.
Heather has three children: Bennett O. Dial (23), Braeden R. Dial (21), and Isabella (Bella) T. Dial (17). Bennett just graduated with a degree in Business Marketing from San Diego State University and currently works in Connecticut as a golf teaching professional. Braeden just completed her Junior year at The University of Virginia where she is a double major in Economics and Psychology and where she plays on UVA’s Women’s Lacrosse Team (she is #29 if you happen to catch a game on ESPN!). Bella just completed her Junior year at New Canaan High School where she was president of The NCHS’s Junior Class, a newly-recognized National Merit Scholar, and a member of the field hockey and track teams.
After raising her family in New Canaan, Connecticut, Heather is thrilled to return to her southern roots and island life – as a child her family split time living between Kansas City and Grand Cayman Island so she is no stranger to the many blessings (and the challenges) that Island-Life brings.
Heather is an avid golfer and tennis player and loves gardening, cooking, painting, and anything involving nature and the outdoors. Heather lives with her beloved 12 year old puggle Boomer (whom you have surely seen beside her on island or on the ferry) and her sweet rescued black cat Thomas Patrick (Tommy) whom you will be lucky to ever see as he is very busy prowling around the island investigating his new home/environment. Heather splits time between her home in Connecticut and her home here on island on Lot 24.
