The water level in the Impoundment will be lowered starting this weekend to allow widgeon grass to germinate. After germination, water levels will be raised around the first week of September.
Widgeon Grass is a beneficial submerged aquatic plant. It provides cover for young fish and crabs and food for winter water fowl. To learn more about Widgeon Grass please click here.
Monarch tagging volunteers needed
Monarchs migrating along the East coast in the fall typically do not go to Mexico. Some over-winter along the coast of South Carolina. Scientist want to find out more about this winter range along the Lowcountry coast.
