Two new employees have joined the Dewees Island Staff! We are very excited for Scott and Corey to join our team.
As second-generation military, Scotty spent much of his childhood traveling the world. As a young boy, Scott lived in Virginia, Texas, Germany, and his previous home state of Georgia. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the beginning of his senior year in high school and was in Basic Training two weeks after graduating in 1978. The first half of his military career he was a mechanic on the A-10A Thunderbolt aircraft. The second half of his career he went over to the flying side of the house and became an Inflight Refueling Specialist (Boom operator). After a total of 23 years, he retired from active duty and began a new career working as a DOD employee splitting his career there between Robins AFB Georgia and finally at Wright Patterson AFB Ohio. Scott moved to the Charleston area in November and to quote a John Denver song “I came home to a place I had never been before.”
When not working, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, golfing or finding a way to get on the water.
Corey is from a small town called Deep Run in North Carolina where he joined the United States Air Force in 2014 working in Fire Protection. He has been working as a firefighter for the past 7 years moving up the ranks and accruing various certifications including EMT and and Hazardous Materials Technician. A couple things Corey likes to do in his free time fishing and riding motorcycles. One thing Corey looks forward to the most while working at Dewees Island is taking in all the beautiful views on the island!
Please help extend a warm welcome when you see them on the island.
