Calling All Fishermen and Fisherwomen for Annual Fishing Rodeo

The Annual Tom Alexander Fishing Rodeo is to encourage Dewees Islanders to experience the thrill of fishing and the beauty of our island!  The rodeo began and was headed by an island resident, Tom Alexander, around 1996 with the concept coming from other island residents.

Participate now through December 31.
There is no fee to sign up. Details below.

Contact Catherine to set a date*
for your team of 7 (or less).
Catherine will send you a packet prior to your team’s fishing date that will include scorecards and Rodeo Rules and Dewees Fishing Etiquette Guidelines.

*The following dates have already been reserved:
 October 27, November 4, and November 24.

Please note that many of the community docks and
water infrastructures that are traditionally used for the fishing rodeo may be inaccessible due to Irma damage.

Most of the fishing is catch and release.  However, enough is kept to provide an adequate amount of fish to be fried at the
Annual Fish Fry that is being held November 18.
(More on the Annual Fish Fry to come).

Rodeo winners will be announced at the
2018 Annual Meeting in March.
